Irritable bowl syndrome (IBS)
I can help you rid yourself of these unwanted symptoms
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is generally characterised by chronic abdominal pain, discomfort, bloating, and alteration of bowel habits in the absence of any detectable organic cause. In some cases, the symptoms are relieved by bowel movements. Diarrhea or constipation may predominate, or they may alternate.
Sometimes IBS may begin after an infection, a stressful life event, or onset of maturity without any other medical indicators. It is not uncommon for sufferers to have experienced the embarrassment of incontinence at some point.
If you have not already been diagnosed with IBS by your doctor you need to do that just to be sure there is nothing more serious going on.

Hypnotherapy is a very effective tool against IBS. The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence, the government watchdog body for health, recommend Hypnotherapy as a treatment for persistent IBS. This is because there is a well recognised connection between IBS and your general anxiety.
Deep within your mind is a primitive system designed by evolution to protect your ancient ancestors from danger. You may have heard of it as the ‘fight or flight’ response. When this system is triggered the body is flooded with chemicals like adrenaline and cortisol. The Sympathetic Nervous System goes into full action and we know that in extreme danger the content of the bowels can turn to liquid in seconds.
Unfortunately, for some of us, even relatively low levels of stress and anxiety can trigger the Sympathetic Nervous System into action, resulting in a range of unpleasant conditions known collectively as Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can be very effective in alleviation of the symptoms of IBS by helping you to deal with underlying stress and anxiety. You may not even be particularly aware of these anxieties. Often they will be at a level that you have grown used to and perhaps take for granted as the ‘niggles’ of life.
Together, we can use hypnotherapy to help lower your underlying stress levels and teach you how to keep them low. As your anxiety reduces then generally the symptoms of IBS will reduce.
